THE WEATHER HANDBOOK
Temperature, wind and daily ranges
Compare the same hour across the temperature and wind views. A daily high alone leaves much of the day out of the picture.
Choose your units
With Auto selected, units follow the place: the United States uses °F, mph, inches and inHg, the United Kingdom uses °C with mph, and everywhere else uses °C, km/h, millimetres and hPa. Select °C for metric or °F for imperial units everywhere. The choice stays in this browser and also applies when you switch languages. Changing the unit does not change the underlying forecast.
Read wind beside the time
Wind speed is shown in kilometres per hour (km/h), or in miles per hour (mph) with imperial units and for places in the United States and the United Kingdom. The current panel also shows a compass direction. The daily detail gives the highest wind speed among that day’s available samples. The site does not label this value as a gust forecast.
Use the range as a quick overview
The two temperatures on a day card summarize the lowest and highest available samples. Open the day to see when those values occur. A late visit can leave only a few samples for today, so its range may be narrow. The final forecast date can also be incomplete.
Try it on your forecast
Open a place you know, look at the relevant section, and keep the guide nearby if a label is unclear.
